I began reading his work in the 90's and following him through the original Child Trauma site and have learned more than I could ever express in words. The change he seeks- the change we seek and need in working with traumatized children/persons, like most change, is a long, long time in coming. But progress is being made. Bruce D. I'm a social worker that does counseling work with children and adolescents. Most of my clients have past trauma and now I can see how the trauma lived in infancy affects them. I highly recommend this book.
A short, easy read, but filled with solid observations and insight about the fundamental, core issues at stake when children are raised in inhumane ways. Perry helps connect the reader to the neurobiological principles as well as the ethical considerations of child abuse and neglect. The reader cannot be left untouched by the gravity of his words.
A wonderful collection of ruminations based on Clinical Experince and some penetrating Philosophical musings. This book will withstand multiple readings over a lifetime and will always feel fresh. It is very accessible and concise, the readings being gleaned from many sources. This is a book to keep to hand for many years ahead.
