What You’ll Get Inside These Pages
The four books of The Kick-Start Creativity Series are primarily photos of my work in the areas of metal (gold and silver and semi-precious stones), wood (rare, exotic woods with semi-precious stones), and fiber (bargello technique for wall hangings and bed quilts) over the years (1975 – 2012) to hopefully give you ideas for your own work.
Wire Jewelry Photo Gallery is basically a book of jewelry photos of my unique handmade jewelry designs. There is a bit of instruction, but not much. Mostly, I just wanted to show you the designs to give you some ideas for your own work.
About the Author
Hello. Thank you for being interested in my work. I had a lot of fun creating it and am now having a lot of fun sharing it.
I guess you could say I came to doing art work by the back door. My formal schooling was in the area of clinical psychology . . . Bradley University, B.S. 1965 and M.A. 1969. But even as a child I wanted to grow up to be a jeweler. I was always fascinated by pretty stones. I would pry them out of their settings and squirl them away in a pretty, fuzzy green box.
My professional writing career began in 1980 with the publication of Jean’s Arizona Fan Palm, cutting directions for a 3.2 carat citrine (you can see it in the Handcrafted Jewelry Photo Gallery book in this Kick-Start Creativity series), in the January issue of the Lapidary Journal Gem Cutting Magazine. Many years later I was submitting step-by-step articles for original jewelry designs to various international magazines.
And now, 2012, I’m enjoying the writing and publishing of various kinds of books for . I’ll be 70 years old this year. It’s been quite a ride. I hope you enjoy my offerings.

Some people buy jewelry to show they have money. Pity, but they do. Some people make jewelry to prove their technical prowess, I suppose. Pity, but they do. However this jewelry is the real deal, which is to say, art. Modern art. Not always symmetrical, etc, etc. Those who prefer intricate kitsch should pass on this book and head to Tiffany or Walmart, as they please (you won't see me in the jewelry department of either establishment.)Nor will this make you a better jeweler, 'cause the soul of an artist can't be passed on that quickly - but looking at these fine pieces might help educate a budding artist.
I'm flummoxed by the one-star review here. I saw the quilt book by the same author as a freebie today, and thought I'd check out the author's other work. The one-star review floored me, so I thought I'd best reply: There's more than one piece illustrated although it is quite a short book, and I obviously am going to the wrong garage sales. I just don't understand that review.
I should give five stars, but I am greedy. I want more jewelry! More photos per piece! Also, although the photographs are high quality, they were not done using a "light box", and for something the size of jewelry, it's not that expensive to drape a white sheet over some sort of frame and create a light box.

I love wire jewelry but honestly i couldn't make one earring to save my life this book has tons and tons of photo's of jewelry i never even would have thought to make in my life!
Thank you for sharing your book. The photos are very inspirational to me. I especially like the rotating pendant. I also appreciate the wire gauge info. I am never quite sure what wire to use.
If you are looking for beginner projects, keep on looking. If you want some ideas for wire jewelry than this is a book you might want. Has some good ideas in it, especially a jeweler's cart to store your supplies in. All in all, I am glad I got this book.
I know how hard it is to get a work published but this is totally deceiving for the price.
The author has a single piece that details what she has done which is great! More power to her.
Unfortunately for someone looking for ideas, the pieces listed are pathetic and useless works.
You can find better looking cheapies at garage sales.
The book has four pages of instructions and the rest is just a gallery of her cheap imitations of other artists.
Oh and the proverbial cart at the end - two pages. pinterest is free and you get a lot more ideas there.
Pass on this. Really not worth wasting your time.
The photos were not terribly clear, and during the instruction parts of the book more photos would have been helpful.
